Explore Saturna
A remote island shaped by the sea and weather.
Welcome to
Saturna Island
Saturna Island is one of the southern Gulf Islands, defined by rugged coastline, forested landscapes, and expansive views across the Salish Sea.
Where land, sea, and stillness converge
Life here moves at a quieter pace, shaped by tides, weather, and the rhythms of nature.
From sandstone shores and sheltered coves to winding trails and open viewpoints, the island offers a sense of space that feels both remote and deeply grounded.
Winter storms bring a deeper mood with strong winds and crashing waves. The rains replenish our water systems, the land heals and becomes green again.
The Coastal Landscape
Rugged shoreline, sandstone formations, and expansive views across the Salish Sea define the coastal landscape of Saturna Island. Quiet coves, shifting tides, and open water create opportunities for shoreline walks, marine life observation, and exploration by kayak.
East Point
At the eastern edge of the island, East Point is known for its lighthouse, rugged cliffs, and sweeping ocean views, and is one of the best places on Saturna to observe whales and marine life.
A 5-minute walk from Studio Ceta, East Point Park offers trails, picnic areas, and sunset views, with Shell Beach and the historic Fog Alarm Building (FAB) located within the park.
Forests & Trails
Forested trails and winding roads move through Douglas fir, arbutus, and Garry oak ecosystems unique to the Gulf Islands.
Hiking and cycling routes offer forested landscapes, open viewpoints, and expansive coastal outlooks.
Life on Saturna
Life on Saturna is shaped by changing weather, seasonal rhythms, and time spent outdoors. Small farms, local artists, and a close connection to the natural environment create a gentler way of life.
The island offers a small selection of essential services, including a general store, seasonal dining options, and local producers. The Saturday Market brings together local makers with seasonal produce, jams, coffee, artwork, and crafts and several artist studios are waiting for your discovery.
Through the Seasons
Saturna shifts noticeably through the year, from misty winters and stormy coastlines to warm, dry summers and long evenings by the water.
Spring brings wildflowers and renewed greenery across the island, while autumn softens the landscape with changing colour and quieter trails.
